Connecticut's Building and Fire Code Modifications, Exemptions and Waivers page states that modification requests must now be sent electronically to the state's designated code-modification email address rather than mailed as paper applications.
Why a fire alarm contractor should care
Modification and waiver requests often involve coordination between the design team, local building official or fire marshal, and the state. Using an outdated submission path can add delay to an already time-sensitive project.
Practical check before submission
- Use the current state form and instructions.
- Confirm whether the local official must review or forward the request.
- Attach the supporting technical documentation requested for the issue.
- Keep the approval or decision with the project record and approved drawings.
If a project team has an old paper modification package or an older internal SOP, update the process before submitting it.
