Good field notes should be clear, not dramatic.
- State what was observed and where it was found.
- Separate fire alarm findings from sprinkler, elevator, HVAC, or monitoring vendor findings.
- State what function may be affected, but avoid overpromising code compliance.
- Include what was tested, what was not tested, and what needs follow-up.
- Verify the final wording against company procedure and AHJ/project requirements.
