Known issue
The CPSC notice says the pull handle could break when a user attempted to activate the station, potentially preventing the fire alarm system from sounding.
Why technicians should know it
Legacy manual stations can remain installed long after a recall was announced. A technician who encounters an older National Time station should compare its identifying information with the official CPSC recall before making a determination.
Field check
Record the manufacturer, model, and identifying label information. Do not rely only on the faceplate appearance.
Identify the exact model, firmware, and date information before deciding the equipment is affected. Document what you find and follow the official source and your company's approved impairment/replacement process.
Official source
Always verify the current manufacturer or government notice before acting.
